[The Generative AI Era Has Arrived] Robot Arms Descend from Above—Sorting and Transporting in Perfect Coordination

A research team led by Professor Youngjae Jang of KAIST and CEO of DAIM Research developed a next-generation smart factory through an autonomous manufacturing testbed that combines AI and digital twin technologies. Professor Jang developed autonomous manufacturing technology that enables robots to perceive situations and make decisions on their own, introducing an unmanned factory system capable of adapting to changing conditions beyond conventional automation.

 

Professor Jang's team demonstrated its technological excellence by having its AI reinforcement learning-based large-scale robot orchestration technology recognized as an Outstanding Paper in IEEE Transactions on Semiconductor Manufacturing (IEEE TSM). Based on this technology, DAIM Research supplies solutions to semiconductor and secondary battery manufacturers, including overseas production sites of SK Siltron and LG Energy Solution, and has recently expanded its applications to steel materials plants through its collaboration with POSCO DX. CEO Jang emphasized that AI and digital twin technologies will serve as key catalysts for manufacturing innovation across Korea's strategic industries. He also stated that the company will continue advancing its proprietary autonomous control solutions to maximize factory productivity and operational efficiency while helping Korea strengthen its leadership in the global autonomous manufacturing market.
