DAIM Research Achieves Integrated Swarm Control of OHT, AGV, and AMR Robots—One Step Closer to Autonomous Manufacturing
- 2023.08.02

In an interview, Youngjae Jang, Professor at KAIST and CEO of DAIM Research, emphasized the importance of an autonomous manufacturing system in which robots optimize operations on their own. His research on swarm robot control was recognized as an outstanding paper by IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (IEEE TSM), demonstrating the feasibility of unmanned factories that operate without human intervention. Professor Jang described DAIM Research's solution as the operating system (OS) for factory operations, explaining that it uses digital twins and AI to issue optimal instructions based on the status of each robot.
The company has earned recognition for its technological leadership by supplying its system to global companies including POSCO and LG Energy Solution and securing cumulative investment of KRW 13 billion. CEO Jang emphasized that fostering globally competitive manufacturing software companies like Germany's Siemens is essential for Korea to strengthen its position as a manufacturing powerhouse. He also expressed his commitment to building a strong R&D-driven ecosystem and growing DAIM Research into Korea's leading manufacturing software company.
