"Connecting Robots to Drive Manufacturing Innovation... Korea Needs a Manufacturing Software Leader Like Siemens"

  • 2023.08.21

A research team led by Professor Youngjae Jang of KAIST and CEO of DAIM Research received an Outstanding Paper Award from IEEE Transactions on Semiconductor Manufacturing (IEEE TSM) for its technology capable of controlling fleets of more than 1,000 robots. Professor Jang developed Korea's first orchestration technology that uses AI and digital twin technologies to optimize task allocation across robots, demonstrating both improved logistics efficiency and reduced operating costs.

Based on this technology, DAIM Research is supplying solutions to overseas manufacturing sites of secondary battery companies, including SK On and LG Energy Solution. More recently, the company has expanded its applications to steel and materials plants through its collaboration with POSCO DX. Building on its success in the secondary battery industry, CEO Jang plans to expand into the semiconductor market and grow DAIM Research into a global manufacturing software company. He also stated that the company aims to develop a logistics operations platform that can be easily adopted not only by large enterprises but also by small and medium-sized manufacturers, helping accelerate the adoption of intelligent manufacturing.
