Professor Youngjae Jang of the KAIST Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, speaking at the Hope SME Forum, emphasized that small and medium-sized manufacturers should begin adopting Physical AI with logistics automation. He explained that while production process automation requires significant investment in trial and error as well as deep operational expertise, making it a heavy burden for SMEs, logistics automation can be implemented in a relatively short period and deliver immediate cost savings.

The forum was attended by approximately 250 SME CEOs and industry experts, where Professor Jang presented practical strategies for AI adoption. Referring to cases in which fragmented system deployments led to lower productivity, he emphasized the need for AI-based orchestration software capable of managing diverse robot fleets within a unified system. He also introduced a case in which integrated orchestration of autonomous mobile robots enabled efficient operations even in confined spaces. Professor Jang noted that factory automation projects should be validated in advance through digital twin-based simulation before deployment. DAIM Research plans to launch a support program for small and medium-sized manufacturers through its cloud-based simulation platform, AI Factory Manager for Everyone, which automatically analyzes robot layouts, travel routes, and related operational factors.
