Sung-wook Lee, Vice President of DAIM Research and Visiting Professor at KAIST, delivered a keynote on "Shaping the Future of Manufacturing with Physical AI" at the JB Future Forum breakfast seminar on the 17th. Lee stressed that autonomous factories cannot be achieved merely by adding more automation hardware, emphasizing the necessity of an intelligent operating system that orchestrates production equipment and intralogistics robots as a cohesive whole.
He highlighted digital twin-based simulation to validate factory layouts and material flows in virtual space before physical deployment. Lee proposed that South Korea leverage its deep industrial data and domain expertise to export turnkey Physical AI Unmanned Factory Platforms—packaging engineering design, software orchestration, and advanced equipment together. He added that DAIM Research will collaborate with KAIST, Jeonbuk National University, and regional research institutes under the Ministry of Science and ICT`s R&D initiative to expand Jeonbuk as a key real-world demonstration hub.
