Professor Youngjae Jang of KAIST is leading the transformation of smart manufacturing through multi-robot autonomous manufacturing software capable of orchestrating more than 1,000 robots. Based on AI reinforcement learning, Professor Jang developed technology that enables robots to perceive their environment and collaborate autonomously, addressing material flow bottlenecks and maximizing productivity in advanced manufacturing sectors such as semiconductors and secondary batteries. Drawing on his industry experience at Micron, Professor Jang founded DAIM Research with his students in 2020 and has since focused on building an autonomous manufacturing ecosystem where machines continuously optimize their own operations, going beyond conventional automation.
