  • 2026.04.23

Professor Youngjae Jang of KAIST (CEO of DAIM Research) chaired the K-Physical AI Roundtable, held as a side event of World IT Show (WIS) 2026, leading in-depth discussions among experts from industry, academia, research institutes, and government on practical strategies for achieving Korea's technological self-reliance in Physical AI. The event was organized to share the achievements of leading Korean companies in control technologies and data infrastructure and to strengthen the competitiveness of Korea's manufacturing industry in response to the dominance of the global AI ecosystem centered on NVIDIA.

The discussion covered key technologies for achieving full-stack self-reliance, including a case in which software integration of foreign-made controllers reduced errors by 85%, as well as synthetic data management techniques for securing the 1% of data representing anomalous operating conditions. The Ministry of Science and ICT also expressed confidence in Korea's competitiveness in Physical AI, building on the country's world-class manufacturing capabilities. As chair of the session, CEO Jang led the discussion by emphasizing that beyond advancing individual technologies, establishing a Physical AI-powered unmanned factory platform and a Physical AI Demonstration Lab ecosystem encompassing the entire factory will be the key to securing leadership in the global market.
