CEO Youngjae Jang emphasized that in the AI era, national competitiveness depends not only on technological innovation itself but also on an R&D system led by Program Managers (PMs) who can shape both technology and markets. He noted that new technologies can only translate into real industrial competitiveness when they are developed alongside viable markets and business models, citing DARPA's PM-driven operating model as a leading example of innovation.

He also described the Ministry of Science and ICT's decision to further specialize its ICT R&D PM structure across areas including core AI technologies, AI semiconductors, Physical AI, and AX convergence as an important turning point for strengthening Korea's AI competitiveness. In particular, he explained that the creation of dedicated PM roles for Regional AX and Manufacturing AX will provide the foundation for expanding AI into manufacturing sites and regional industries. He further emphasized that PMs should be given sufficient authority and autonomy, and that an R&D system led by experts who understand both technology and markets is essential for translating research outcomes into real industrial applications and commercialization. He concluded that such institutional innovation will serve as a key foundation for Korea's ambition to become one of the world's top three AI nations (G3).
