In a media interview, CEO Youngjae Jang emphasized that for Korea's manufacturing industry to strengthen its global competitiveness, it must establish a standardized Physical AI ecosystem and pursue a turnkey dark factory export strategy. Drawing on more than a decade of research, Professor Jang founded DAIM Research together with fellow KAIST Ph.D. graduates and developed an unmanned factory platform. He explained that its core technologies have been validated at more than 30 manufacturing sites, including SK On's plant in Hungary and LG Energy Solution's plant in Indonesia.

He also emphasized that standardizing data and interfaces is essential to reducing the cost of automation by leveraging an AI operating system that combines reinforcement learning (RL) and large language models (LLMs), together with digital twin and simulation technologies. He further proposed that, instead of selling individual robots or controllers, Korea should adopt a turnkey dark factory export model that provides integrated services covering factory design, construction, and operation as a new growth strategy for the manufacturing industry. He also suggested that the government shift its policy focus from supporting individual pieces of equipment to building a broader industrial ecosystem.
