Intel and KAIST Partner to Commercialize Dark Factories: "The Entire Plant as a Robot"
- 2026.10.14

Intel is teaming up with KAIST research-enterprise venture DAIM Technology to accelerate the commercialization of Physical AI Unmanned Factory Platforms, combining Intel’s hybrid edge computing architecture with DAIM’s software orchestration.
At the Intel Robotics Workshop on October 14, CEO Young-jae Jang introduced a deployment scenario co-developed with a global semiconductor enterprise. The platform synchronizes predictive anomaly detection, autonomous inspection dispatch, material rerouting, and production scheduling into a single closed loop. Jang emphasized that real-world dark factories require factory-wide multi-robot orchestration rather than isolated robotic automation, backed by integrated fleet management (xMS) and digital twin simulation (xSim) to drive scalable autonomous operations.
